Today I woke up early and had time to reflect. A lot of good things that happened this month and one of it is my promotion.
Finally I got promoted in less than 6 months! At first, I was hesitant. I felt that way it’s not because I am not confident in taking the job because I know my colleague deserves it more than me. Yes I did my job the best way I can everyday and I never did try to compete with that colleague of mine. Our work ethics, strengths and weakness complement each other. I guess there were instances that he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. For the real reason of why they chose me over him I will never know.
Anyway, I am very much excited over this now. The position gives me authority to impart what I have learned in college and in my experiences to my fellow colleagues. When I was the same rank as them, I felt if I gave out pointers or teach them extensively, I would come off as a know it all. Now that I have joined the upper ranks, it’s a responsibility of educating that comes with the title.
Although the position’s Job Description is not as laborious, I will still join the ranks of my fellow colleagues by still serving and engaging guests. Let my managers hate me for not being a hawk. I believe that its best to lead and gain respect by example.
